Sesshomaru and the Forgiving Soul

Chapter 14: Lunch and New Information

Kagome walked away from the training grounds and smiled. She walked into the gardens and sat on a bench beneath a weeping willow. Kagome placed her bow and quiver on the ground next to her. She smiled and thought of the general’s face when she shot that arrow. Then her smile faded when she thought of what Sesshomaru would do when he found out. Mika peeked her head through the leaves and smiled.

“There you are My Lady. I heard what happened at the training grounds. The general went straight to Lord Sesshomaru after you left. Anyway, it is time for lunch.” Kagome nodded and picked up her things.

“I know how to get to the dinning hall. Can you take these and place them in my room please?” Kagome handed the bow and quiver to the girl who bowed and left. Kagome straightened her kimono and started on her way the dinning hall. Kagome pasted several servants on her way to the dinning hall. They all bowed and then giggled as they when on their way. Kagome shook her head at them and stepped into the dinning room. Sesshomaru was already seated at the table and gestured toward the seat to his right. Kagome walked over to him and sat where he indicated. As soon as she was seated a servant appeared and poured tea.

“I have been informed of some activity today at the training grounds. Explain.” Kagome sighed.

“Nothing happened really. I was sitting there watching them train and then they moved to archery. I always like watching archery competitions. Well, to be honest they aren’t very good at it. I stood to leave and the general came up to me and asked if there was a problem. I told him the truth. They really sucked. He then proceeded to insult me.” Sesshomaru raised his brow at that comment. “Yea, it was something about not knowing how to string a bow let alone shoot one. Well, I proved him wrong and shot the target from one hundred and fifty feet away dead center. Then I left. That was all.” Kagome picked up her tea and sipped from it. Sesshomaru gestured toward the doors and the general stepped in.

“General Takio. I have informed everyone in the palace that I have a very important guest staying with me and to treat this guest with respect is that correct?” The general nodded. “Then why were you insulting my guest?” Kagome smirked as the general squirmed.

“My Lord. She is a woman.” Sesshomaru raised his brow.

“Yes she is. What is your point?” The general looked over at me and snarled.

“She is human and female. She should not be able to do what she did. She is not normal my Lord.”

“And this is why you insulted my guest?”

“I did not at the time know that your guest was a woman.” The general bowed. Sesshomaru waited as lunch was served before Kagome and himself. He took a small bite. Kagome picked up her spoon and began eating her soup as she watched General Takio out of the corner of her eye.

“It is unacceptable behavior and you will have to be punished. Therefore you will be Lady Kagome’s personal body guard as long as she remains in these walls.” Kagome smirked as Takio’s mouth dropped open. He quickly gathered himself and bowed before them.

“Yes, Lord Sesshomaru. Lady Kagome.” The general left the dinning hall and Kagome couldn’t take it anymore. She started laughing. Sesshomaru looked at her and smirked.

“I have a feeling that this is going to be more punishment than I planned.” Kagome nodded and continued to laugh.

“He really hates me, and he has to follow me everywhere.” Kagome stopped laughing as she looked at Sesshomaru. He was watching her carefully while smiling a little. Kagome blushed and went back to eating her soup. They ate in silence for the rest of lunch. Kagome smiled up at Sesshomaru when the servants took away the last plates.

“That was delicious, Sesshomaru.” He nodded.

“What are your plans for the afternoon?” Kagome thought for a moment and shrugged.

“I don’t know yet. I don’t want to go back to the training area. Do you have a library?” Sesshomaru nodded.

“You read?” Kagome glared at the demon Lord.

“Of course I read.”

“The study is full of books. You may read anything you like.” Kagome’s scowl quickly faded and was replaced by a smile.

“Thank you Sesshomaru.” Sesshomaru nodded and stood. Kagome followed him to the study. She skimmed the books he had and selected one called ‘Miko Power’. She settled into some pillows out of the way and cracked open the book. Sesshomaru sat at his desk and worked on scrolls. They sat in silence for an hour. Kagome stood and walked over to Sesshomaru’s desk. Sesshomaru looked up at her.

“Do you have something a can use to write things down?” Sesshomaru selected a small stack of parchment and a quill and ink bottle.

“There is a low writing table over there you may use.” Kagome smiled and took everything back to her pillows. She set everything up and started coping from the book. Sesshomaru watched her for a moment before going back to his work. Kagome started coping information about meditating and using different kinds of powers.

‘A miko’s power is tied directly to her emotions. Emotions are the key to everything. When the miko feels threatened or in danger she will generate purification powers to destroy the treat. Also when a miko feels happy or content she will be able to heal more easily…’

Kagome flipped a few more pages until she came to another entry and began copying.

‘A miko who is able to master all of her powers is blessed with a Mark. This Mark shows that she is stronger than most demons. The mark will sometimes appear on others when the miko is healing them. There are many effects of this mark, especially on other mikos. The mark acts as a link between the two people. Others can tap into this link and use it to heal the miko with the Mark. It can sometimes cause the same illness to manifest in the healer.

‘The only person able to create a link with a demon was Asturda, the first miko every to record things in the world. Asturda had her Mark and used it to help both demons and humans alike. The connection created between Asturda and the demon Rikuto was very similar to a selection mark. Asturda held deep feelings for the demon Rikuto and it caused this selection mark to appear on his skin. She was then able to tell what he was feeling and sometimes thinking about. Rikuto also had feeling for someone, but it was not Asturda. It was another demon. They eventually mated and the selection mark disappeared. Shortly after than, Asturda died.

‘It is said that if Rikuto returned her feelings and they mated they would have been the most powerful couple in all of Japan.’

Kagome stopped writing and looked over Sesshomaru. He was still working. Kagome put down the quill and closed the ink well. Kagome gathered the parchment and the book and took all of it to Sesshomaru. After a moment he looked up at her. Kagome handed him back the unused parchment and the quill and ink.

“Can I take this book to my room?” Sesshomaru nodded and turned back to his work. Kagome left the room and made her way back to her room. Mika was waiting outside her room. Mika helped Kagome out of her kimono and into bed. Mika left Kagome for the night and soon after Kagome fell asleep thinking about Asturda and Rikuto.
^.^ New chapters are fluffy!!

I hope you enjoy the story!

Again this is between Sesshomaru and Kagome.

I do not own Inuyasha or any of its characters. I also do not profit from this story.
